Get Tech Support via Ask Wiz

From the Press Release:

Ask Wiz was created to provide an alternative to the outdated call centers and tech-support services which are time consuming, costly, and cover only a limited scope of topics. Ask Wiz
uses artificial intelligence to match each user’s support case with a subject matter tech expert, and leverages these one-on-one conversations to learn and become more knowledgeable over
time. The platform covers a wide range of topics and helps fix issues related to mobile phones, computers, and smart home devices.

“Our mission is to break down barriers between people and their tech” said Matan Talmi, CEO of Ask Wiz. “We designed Ask Wiz to help remove the headache from the conventional
tech-support experience and provide a solution fit for today’s consumers”.

During Beta, the platform grew to 2,000 active experts, handling anywhere from a dozen to several hundred cases each. “Being able to help people enjoy their tech is one of the things I
like most about being an expert on Ask Wiz” said Jamie Taylor, one of the leading experts on the platform who has so far handled over 900 cases.

Experts earn tips for cases they resolve, with tips starting at $2 and going up to $10 per case. Later this year, Ask Wiz plans to introduce affordable subscription packages and expand its
service to additional messaging platforms, aiming to take on Geek Squad and the $6 billion tech-support market.

Hello to Ditto, the newest Pokemon

Pokémon GO Trainers now have the chance to catch Ditto, a Pokémon with a curiously blobby shape and the capacity to mimic the looks and traits of other Pokémon. This means that a Pokémon you think you captured could be Ditto, which reveals its true form only after it’s caught. Also, when training or battling at a Gym, Ditto will copy the appearance, types, and moves of the first Pokémon it sees, and it will stay that way through the remainder of those Gym battles.

Pokemon Go Celebrates Halloween

From Press Release:

This Halloween, players of Pokemon GO will experience exciting treats from Niantic Labs, Inc. and The Pokemon Company International. Beginning Wednesday, October 26 (today), through Tuesday, November 1, Pokemon GO Trainers will have the chance to catch some of the spookiest Pokemon available in the game with increased global encounters of Drowzee, Gastly, Gengar, Golbat, Haunter, Hypno, and, yes, Zubat. And, since it wouldn’t be Halloween without candy, Trainers will have the opportunity to earn more Pokemon Candy during this event as they explore the world around them in search of Pokemon.

During this period, every Pokemoncaught will earn Trainers six Candies—twice the normal amount. The professor will also give Trainers two Candies instead of one for every Pokemon transferred to him. In addition, Buddy Pokemon will award four candies instead of the usual one. Pokemon Candies enable Trainers to evolve or strengthen their Pokemon, so players will want to walk and catch all the Pokemon they can to get their fill of Candy during this special event.

Battleplans now out for Android

Looking for a fun, real time strategy (RTS) game? Well I recommend you take a look at Battleplans. The game has been out for a little while on iOS and just launched on Android. Now that is out for both platforms, I decided to take a look.

First off, from the press release:

“Battleplans sets itself apart from other RTS titles by using simple, intuitive controls that allow players to focus on making quick decisions in the heat of battle instead of navigating endless menus. The game also separates battle decisions from planning decisions, so players don’t have to master both aspects at the same time while also dealing with the pressures of PvP combat.

“Battleplans is a great strategy game for players interested in actually controlling the units they send into combat. It provides engaging gameplay but isn’t bogged down by micromanagement,” said Chris Lee, En Masse CEO. “From the first time you play, Battleplans is a joy to pick up and learn. Winning strategies come down to anticipating opponent’s plans, then outsmarting them.”

Key features for Battleplans include:

  • Real time tactics – Make decisions quickly to turn the tide of battle.
  • Competitive Play – Dominate the map. Plan, attack, and defend on your schedule.
  • Intuitive Controls – Easy to learn, and fun to master. Quick-thinking beats quick fingers.
  • Plan your Battles – Choose a mix of unique heroes and units for both attack and defense.

The bottom line is that the game is fun. The game walks you through the basics nicely and provides guidance as you go along. You command a number of heroes which you take into battle with you. You can fight other players online, AI controlled spots, and the work your way through the game’s chapters. You will need to work through the chapters to unlock new heroes, upgrades, additional troops etc.

Once you take over a location, you can set up its defenses so when it gets attacked, you hopefully can retain it. This is where the strategy comes in. Also when you attack a location, you can decide how you what to proceed.  It is free to give it a try.

You probably can play this on your phone, but I like it better on the large screen.  This is a game you can play over time and one you can quickly pick up and put down, as the battles do no last more than about 3 minutes. So if you enjoy RTS games, Battleplans is one try.
