Paste Out -Awesome Clipboard App for iOS

Being able to transfer information from one device to another is important. I recently came across this app for iOS: Paste Out. Paste Out from Ilerian Ltd is a cloud clipboard app which will allow the user to access his clipboard from any device or desktop. The key features are:

  • Send to cloud clipboard.
  • Retrieve from cloud clipboard.
  • Immediately paste your already copied text content as you open the application. Ready to paste out!
  • Easy to use simple user interface.
  • Edit your content before sending / after retrieving.

I reached out to the developer to get some more information.

–The desktop application will support HTTP proxy settings  in the coming weeks.
–They are planning to enable paste out for images, voice records, multiple files, and folders.
–They may embed a QR-code reader or integrate Qrafter into the app.
–They are also planning to develop an Android version of the application if it reaches expected number of users.

This app has a lot of potential. I do not know of any other clipboard apps that do this. With a price tag of $0.00 USD, why not give Paste Out a try and let me know what you think.

Whack Mania Free Review

Review:

I remember the good old days when my parents would take me to the local arcade, I couldn’t wait to grab that mallet and let those moles have it. Whack Mania takes the whack-a-mole concept and mixes in a couple of twists and turns. The result is a very entertaining game with a little for players of all ages.

“The world is in danger. A horrible plague of moles has afflicted the land and only you can stop it. Moles and rabbits are destroying your crops, and if you’re not fast enough, you’ll lose your entire harvest to these nasty little critters!”- Play Store Description

When you start up the game players are placed into one of 14 mini planets (Similar to Super Mario Galaxy) where you you’ll whack your way to victory. Within these mini planets are various holes in the ground where those pesky moles will emerge from and give you your chance to attack. What I find the coolest is the fact that the moles pop up to the beat of the music, it adds to an overall satisfying gaming experience.

The game menus are  easy to use and are similar to a certain angry feathered animal game.   As you progress through the planets the number of moles to smash will increase and, you’ll find that you’ll need to swipe around the planet to insure you’ve gotten all the moles. Players can identify that a mole has emerged based on a “pop” sound. Players will also encounter white moles that if you whack you’ve earned yourself a fail on the level. If you don’t like moles there is also a mode in which you must prevent bunnies from eating all the carrots lying around. Once you’ve completed all 14 levels, you go premium and purchase the  full version for $.99(adds 20 levels and removes ads). If that is not enough to satisfy your mole frenzy then you can opt to play endless mode which is well endless.

Overall Whack Mania (Free) gives an old classic a breath of fresh air and makes for a very entertaining game. It’s available for Android phones (2.2 and up), Android tablets (3.0 and up) and iOS devices.

Captain Clumsy Falls in the Android Market [Review]

Review:

Captain Clumsy is the tale of William Clumsy, a pirate captain on the verge of retirement. He has collected quite the pirate’s booty. But as his name implies is his clumsy and loses his treasure. William will be jumping to get it back from the seagulls!

This is a free game and has ads at the bottom of the screen. I did not find them annoying. The graphics are great and the game plays well. At the beginning of level 1 you can read a cute comic before you start. As you fall you will want to try and guide the captain to pick up the coins. The more coins you collect, the better your score and the more extras you can purchase in the store.

You can pause the game and there are checkpoints along the way so you do not have to restart the whole level. It definitely takes some practice since you cannot stop the captain once he begins his jump. For each level you can get up to 3 stars. The game has 26 levels which you can unlock with coins earned in the game.

 

As with most games, there are in-app purchases with real money. For Captain Clumsy you can purchase more coins if needed.

Overall this is a fun game with great graphics. If you enjoy physics based games, give Captain Clumsy a try. The iOS version of the game will be coming out later this year.

Small Call – Android App Review

Now before we begin with the review, imagine this pretty common situation. You’re amidst a brilliant landscape that is definite to enter your Droid as an image. You’ve triggered the camera, set the aperture, zoom, flash and almost every initial preliminary setting and ready to go. But just when you are about to click the capture button, the phone rings and you are interrupted. Irritating, right? The same sensation sustains when we are interrupted while playing a game, listening to songs, watching a video and the likes. Getting a call or a message at the least desired instance is the worst thing to happen, and thankfully we encountered an app that promises to offer a solution. We used the app and have shared over here, our opinions and review about the app.

Welcome to Small Call:

The application for android is based on a very novel idea and strikes a chord in terms of its motives. Basically, it is an application that allows you to continue what you were doing, without any disturbance and interruption. Once installed, the app ensures that user in no way is interrupted while he is up to something. 4.5 stars out of 5 for the concept!

Features:

The app’s features are quite impressive. The app once installed, can be setup to avoid calls and messages from interrupting your current tasks. The features can be classified into two broad categories – Incoming calls and text messages.

In terms of incoming calls, the app offers three choices – an option to reject (which I personally enjoy using the most), an option to redirect the call to voice mail and an ultimate option to answer the call. If you’re wondering how the app can display these options, when I’m already on a task, note that the app displays the notifications through a popup which gets triggered every time a call or a message reaches your phone. One fascinating feature of this app is that it features alterable opacity levels, which can be increased or decreased to establish a higher and lower contrast of the pop-ups respectively. Wise!

On the messaging front, the app throws up a similar popup which displays information on the sender and the message along with the options to ignore the text or send an automated reply. Though the app has a preloaded automated reply, users can customize the app by typing a message of their choice.

The Experience:

Our experience with this app has been quite wobbly, because it kept switching from being amazing to underwhelming at various scenarios. First we tried the app while texting, because I’ve personally have had annoying interruptions while typing messages. So, I was in my compose box and had my friend to call me. The app threw up a notification with exactly the same opacity level that I had set. Good! Next I opened up Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and had my friend call again. To our surprise, the game crashed. I gave my phone a reboot and tried it with a lineup of similar conditions like with the music player, calculator, navigation and the likes and found it to be impressive and depressive alternatively. We arrived on a stable conclusion.

The Bottom Line:

The app has an amazing concept which deserves a pat-on-the-back. But what it deserves more is effort and updates. It needs to be properly developed and has to undergo some tweaks and bug fixes, which am sure the following updates would fix. As a closing comment – the app is good, and may work for you seamlessly. Don’t decide up on our opinions because these are our personal experiences which obviously need not be yours as well. So go for this app, as it is highly recommended!

If you are a skier then you need to try Ski Jumping Pro. This incredibly realistic game has you playing as  professional  skier. The game is very easy to play so you can jump into it quickly (pun intended).

When you first start out you can try the quick jump area to become familiar with the controls. The key to doing well is timing when you tap on the screen (you will be prompted). Once you feel ready, then you can begin your career. As you progress you will earn money and awards. With your earnings you can purchase different equipment and training to improve your skills and performance on the slopes.  Also as you progress you can unlock new slopes and challenges.

The graphics are fantastic on the iTouch5 and I did not experience any glitches or problems with the game play. After each jump, you can watch the replay to see how well you look. Although the game is relatively easy to play, it will take some practice. Yes you can crash just like they do in real life.

Create A Pandemic: Plague Inc. Review

I’m not a big game player, in fact my phone/tablet only has three of them installed at the moment.  I usually just look at the productivity apps in the app stores but occasionally I’ll wander over to the games and see if anything jumps out at me.

Well, I found one the other day that intrigued me.  The game is called Plague Inc. and basically your job is to create a pandemic that wipes out the entire population of the earth.  Lighthearted game right??  I was a little disturbed at the premise until I played for the first time.  The strategy and realistic simulation of the game makes it a very enjoyable game to play.

Create Your Bug

The first step in Plague Inc. is to create your pathogen.  You choose from Bacteria, Virus, Fungus, Parasite, Prion, Nano-Virus, and Bio-Weapon.  The game has three levels of play Casual, Normal, and Brutal.  In the beginning you can only choose Bacteria.  You must beat the game on Normal or Brutal level to unlock another pathogen.  Now you give your pathogen a name.  I guess you could be creative here or name it your third grade teacher’s name if you so desire.

Modify The Genetic Code

Now comes the part where you can modify the genetic code of your bug before the game begins.  Through gameplay you will eventually discover all of the genes but you can unlock all genes through an in app purchase if you don’t want to wait.

Release It

Plague Inc. includes over 50 countries to infect and your next step is to choose one to release your bug.  Where you release your pathogen decides how you will proceed in later steps.  Different types of pathogens flourish in different regions and climates.

Gameplay

Now that your bug is released it’s time to ensure that it is not snuffed out by some Tylenol Cold.   You gain DNA points throughout the game by popping dna “bubbles” that come up on the map and when your disease spreads to a new country.  You use these points to change your Transmission, Symptoms, and Abilities.

  • Transmission:  This is how your pathogen is spread.   The more transmissions methods you use the faster your disease progresses.  Choose from bird, vermin, insect, livestock, blood, air, and water.  There are multiple levels within each method.
  • Symptoms: Here is where you decide what effects your pathogen has on it’s host.   Your disease starts as a basic bug so you must add symptoms to make it more deadly…but you must do this at the correct timing for maximum effect.  Symptoms in Plague Inc. include Nausea, Insomnia, Coughing, Cysts, Rash, and Anemia.  Of course as you expose each symptom more symptoms based on that one become available.
  • Abilities: This is where you customize the strength of your disease and resistance to eradication methods.  You can choose from cold resistance, heat resistance, drug resistance, and bacterial resilience (with the bacteria pathogen).

As you evolve your pathogen in Plague Inc. , the game simulates the spread and effectiveness of the disease.   You also get news items which help you know how to evolve your pathogen next.

Plague Inc.  features in app purchases which allow you to have immediate access to several features or you can play the game and slowly gain access.  You can also purchase the full version which basically removes ads, fast forward, and other options.

Conclusion

I tried this game based on curiosity but after playing it a few times I am hooked.  The gameplay is somewhat slow and there is some waiting around but it’s very interesting to see how certain symptoms or transmission methods affect the spread and effectiveness of your transmission.  If you can get by the morbid goal of eradicating the entire earth, then give Plague Inc. a chance.

Building A Great City – MegaCity Review

Review: 

MegaCity a a fun city building puzzle game that is available for both Android and iOS. It took me a few minutes to figure it out but once I did I really starting getting into the game. I was fortunate to test to game out on both Android and iOS platforms. There are some slight differences between the two but overall they main game is the same.

The game board is broken up into a grid or blocks 7 wide and 6 tall. Your job is to build the city one block at a time. On the left hand side, the buildings you can place will come up one
by one. Simply tap on the empty block to the right where you want to place the building. As you build your city, you need to get a certain number of points to complete the column of
blocks. When a block is completed, it will rotate away, but it starts with the column to the far left. So as you clear columns, new ones appear making this a perputatal puzzle game.

So where is the challenge? Well as you advance, the points you need increase. Only building such as homes and apartments score points and only certain city buildings like library,
police stations, etc will give the houses points. In addition to buildings that give points, there are somed that take points away.

So complicated? Well once you play the tutorial and try a few rounds, it will all make sense!

To do well in the game, you need to plan and try to think ahead with your buildings and locations.

The game plays great on both platforms and the graphics and music are super. Do I favor one platform over another for this game? Not really.

In addition to the main puzzle game, there are 6 challenges you can try and there are 10 buildings you will unlock as you play. There is a ton to do in this game and one you will not
finish right away. This really is a game that will provide you will hours of entertainment. Definitely recommend  the game. take a look at this promotional video to get another view of the game.
