The Bitles is a fun arcade type game that was inspired by the Sega game: Chu-Chu Rocket (1999). I had never played that game before. The objective of this game is  simple, get your Bitle to the bitcoin and then have him arrive safely at home.

The game is currently free and available for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. Since it is free, it is supported with ads, that are shown between levels.  Currently there is no way to remove the ads and there are quite a few you will need to go through to play the game. Maybe in a future version…

The has game has two areas: Puzzle and Challenge.

In the Puzzle area, you will need to collect a bitcoin and then return home, which is a nest in the ground. Now the controls are simple. You will need to place an arrow(s) on the screen to direct your Bitle. When you are ready hit walk. The Bitle will then move- you cannot stop nor control the Bitle. If hebecomes stuck, you will have the option to reset the level and start over. There are currently 40 levels.

In Challenge area, you get your chose your colored character and the arena: Lompa’s Lair, Lava Spots, ZigZag, and, Krobug Kraze. You job here is to kill your opponent a certain number of times by placing bombs in the playing area. Again you cannot control the Bitle or the direction.

I have already mentioned bitcoins…in the game you need to collect them to finish a level. Now you also earn them when you complete a level. This is a novel approach.  So what is a bitcoin? This is from the developer’s website.

“Bitcoin (or BTC) is the new money of the Internet, which you can use to shop online from the sites and stores which support it, or you can exchange the coins for real money….When you solve a puzzle while playing in Puzzle mode, a Bitcoin reward will be added to your balance. And on top of that, you will get a BTC reward everyday if you have just played the game the day. When you collect enough earnings, you can withdraw the coins to your BTC account.”

The Bitles is a “simple” game in the sense there is not a lot of controls or intense action. It is really more of a thinking game. You need figure out where you are going to place your arrow(s) in puzzle mode so your Bitle can successfully collect the bitcoin and go home. The challenge mode is fun but I personally like the puzzle mode better. The graphics and sounds is well done and this is definitely a kid friendly game.

I played the game on my Android tablet and found  I could not rotate the screen. The text directions that appeared in the game were a bit small, even on the larger screen. Finally as I mentioned before there are plenty of ads in the game, which I wish could be cut down some.

Overall The Bitles is a fun puzzle game for those that enjoy thinking vs shooting. 🙂
