If you enjoy reading magazines and you have an iPad then you should check out Readr from PixelMags. Readr is a relatively new app and from what I have could be going places. The whole premise behind the app is that you can read any magazine before you purchase it. As the video says, it is just like looking at the magazine at the newsstand.
Before I go any further, here are the specifics. When you first start the app, you get 7 days of free AnyTime reading. After that then you get 23 minutes every month of free AnyTime reading. You can purchase individual magazines or you can purchase a monthly subscription of $9.99 USD for unlimited reading, no ads, and offline reading.
On the top right hand corner of the screen, is a small tab where you can easily turn on/off your AnyTime reading period(s). When you first get the app, you can keep it off so you can see what magazines are available before you ever begin.
The app is very easy to use. To find a magazine, you can choose from over a dozen categories (in the top menu) or you can search using keywords. When you find a magazine that interests you, click on the cover and it will pull up another screen with details on the magazine, including prices.
The layout of the app is beautifully done and works great in either portrait or landscape mode. It was pretty easy to search and scan the magazines available. I would be curious to see what additional periodicals are available in the future. I am not a big magazine reader but a few that I would be interested in, where not available. I did find a lot of magazines that I did not know existed.
I really cannot say enough about the beauty of the app.I tried it on my iPad mini and it looked great and reading the magazine was super easy. Readr is a great way to find and check out new magazines or read your favorites. The app is free and you get 20+ minutes each month of free reading so there really isn’t any reason why you should give Readr a try.
