Review:

Iron Run is a new continuous running game for iOS devices and it is sort of a cross between Transformers and Temple Run. It is a fun game and meets my kids’ approval.

The game is free and there is a small banner ad at the bottom of the screen but not when you are actually playing the game. As with many free games, there are some in app purchase options for extras.

The controls of the game are pretty straight forward also. To move from side to side, swipe in the direction you want to go. To jump you swipe up and then to slide, swipe down. I did not have any problem getting the hand of the game and you shouldn’t either.

The other option in the game is shooting, which you do by tapping the screen or hold down your finger to rapid fire.

One thing I like about the game is the story line. When you first start the app, if you go to option, you can read the background of the game. The story line is a bit like the  Terminator movies, where the computer or robots take over and human kind has to fight back.

Titan City has been taken over by the Titan 3 system that EverReach created. You are Tommy Tominaga and you are trying to escape Titan City on one for the robots you reprogrammed.

This is a running game so as you progress you earn coins the further you go. When you crash and burn (and you will) you can then head over to the shop to upgrade your robot.  You can upgrade your chassis (mobility and armor), weapons, items (boost time, coin doubler, etc), and you can purchase more coins if needed.

The game connects to the game center but also keeps records of your max mileage and max combo hits plus your total play, mileage, and destruction.

Overall Iron Run is a fun running game. The graphics are ok and getting to shoot your way out (until your ammo runs out) is a nice aspect of the game. Definitely a family friendly game.
