Print your Instagram photos with Inkifi [App Review]

We are leaving in a digital age, especially when it comes to photographs. Well you know what? Every once in a while it is still nice to have a physical copy of a photo.

Inkifi is the official app of Inkifi.com, a site that allows you to print your Instagram photos or any photo you wish to upload to the website. Overall it appears to be a very impressive and well supported service. Today though I will focus on the app and how that works.

inkifi1The free app is currently available for both Android andiOS devices. No major setup is required, simply turn it on and you are ready to begin. (I used the Android version for this review.)

First of you will need to choose which product you want to create.  The options you have are:

  • Prints
  • Frames
  • Mini Book
  • Acrylic Block
  • Greeting Cards
  • Magnets
  • Canvases

Say you choose Prints, you will then be presented with additional options and starting prices. Note: The prices are in British pounds since the company is from England. I could not find a way to switch it to US currency.

Now within Prints your choices are:

  • Square Prints  4 x 4 prints
  • Vintage Prints 11 cm x 9cm
  • Mini Squares  2 x 2 inch
  • Mini Prints  8.5 cm x 5.5 cm

The app shows you some general examples. You can also head over to their website to see these options and more, if you want to view them on a bigger screen.

After you select type of print, you will then choose how many images you want and the source of your images. Basically any image you have on your phone, you can use. If you want to access Instagram, you will need to log in and give Inkifi permission. After the images are selected, you can do a quick crop on any of them.

Once that is all done, it is on to ordering.

I have seen similar services but Inkifi is very impressive. They have a very nice selection of prints you can order, the app makes it very easy to order on the go, and current reviews are very positive. If you are looking for a service to print your photos Inkifi should be on your list.  As I mentioned early, if you do not want to use their app, you can work directly on their website.

Lights Camera Action- Flashback for iOS [App Review]

The smartphone has changed how we take photos, well Flashback for iOS might change how we take photos and video on your iOS device.

Flashback – Take Photos, Capture Video, Create Movie Montage from Bramber Inc allows the user to take photos and video simultaneously. The app is pretty neat and easy to use. Simply download the app, start taking some photos or video and then when you are ready, create your own flashbacks.

There is a lot to this app and I will probably not be able to do it justice but I will try. The app works on iPhone and iPad but it should be noted it only works in portrait mode. It will run you $1.99 USD but it is well worth it.  To create the best flashbacks, you should take any photo or video within the app, but you can import media too. The app allows you to create albums to organize your content.

In addition to albums, Flashback allows you to share your creativity via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and Tumblr. There is a nice tutorial I would recommend you review before doing anything. There is also the option to create HD video and to geo tag photos.

When you are ready, start taking photos. When you are done, hit create flashback on the screen. You will be presented with a list of your images and a film strip. Click on the image to add it to your film strip, which will eventually become your Flashback. After adding the images, you can add music, transitions, and some filters. There is not a lot of options for each but enough. You can purchase some others via in-app purchases.

I am very impressed with this app. It is easy and fun to use and the practice videos I created came out pretty good. Sorry I did not put them here because I did not want everyone to see me in my pajamas!  I can see a lot of neat uses for Flashback for both individuals and businesses.

Take few photos of anything with Flashback and in a manner of minutes you can have a video to along with them. Nothing could be easier!

Photo sharing and more – Pixmeknot [Android App]

pixmeknot2Do you love taking pictures with your Android device? Do you have a hard time managing them? Well give Pixmeknot a look at.

With Pixmeknot, you can easily manage and share your photos online. I know for me I hate having to download and store photos; I need to get more organized! First step is to use many of the free online storage locations such as Facebook, Dropbox, and Picasa.  With each of these services I can download their app to my phone and tablet and then view, edit, and share my pictures. No problem.

Well one problem is that I do not want to have 3 different apps on my phone for photos. With Pixmeknot, I can connect these accounts and access them from one interface. When you first start the Pixmeknot app, you will need to create an account. After that the main interface will appear. To get started you will need to sign into Facebook, Dropbox, and Picasa so you can access those photos. If you hit the my cloud button, you can upload photos from your phone!

Once you have some photos to work with then the fun begins. You can easily see, search, download, and share any photo you might have in your accounts. Really not a whole lot to say, it simply works and works well.

The option or service that Pixmeknot has that I really appreciate is the my-event. Here you can create a private or public event and then connect with others who are at the event (and have Pixmeknot). This is a great idea; if you have multiple friends at the same event, you do not have to worry about missing shot or losing a photo.

You can invite your friends to join the event by sms, email, or a custom friend list (this is detected automatically by the email you have in your contact list). If you have a public event, users can join it by searching in the name of the event in the search box of my-event tab.

Pixmeknot is a free app and you get 2 gigabytes of my-cloud space. When you start a my event, you can use your current my-cloud setup or upgrade it. Even if you are not hosting a my-event, you can easily upgrade to either 10 or 20 gigabytes, which is billed annually. If you are a big photo taker, you will probably need to do this.

I appreciate convenience and I would say the Pixmeknot definitely adds convenience to my like, at least when it comes to photos!
