Let Nothing Stand in your way – Shadow Fight 2 [Android App Review]

App Name: Shadow Fight 2

Developer: NEKKI

Price: Free

Market: Google Play

Device used for review: OnePlus One

Review:

If I could sum up this review in one word it would be WOW! This game is good, no its amazing. Shadow Fight 2 is a mobile game available for Android and other platforms, but you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between this game and a next gen console game. The graphics and overall style of the game is that good.

In this game you are a warrior who lets nothing stand in your way. I have to say its extremely fun punching kicking and slashing my way through the levels. As I stated previously the graphics are amazing. The movements of the shadow characters are very fluid and really impressed me especially for a mobile game. Nekki states the animation system is all new and I have to say I have not seen anything like it before.

As you may have already figured out this is not your typical fighting game. It has elements of standard fighting games however it adds RPG elements. You can upgrade your armor, weapons and fighting styles. This creates a very unique game environment and gives the player almost limitless customization options.

The game has many things to do and missions to accomplish. There are six worlds in which you’ll battle hard. All six worlds have a big boss that you’ll have to take down before moving on. There is also survival mode and a very challenging but fun tournament; in these modes you’ll earn cash to help upgrade your warrior.

Overall I can honestly say this is the greatest fighting game I’ve played on any mobile platform and could very well be the best mobile game I’ve played period. I highly recommended this game to anyone who wants to reward themselves with a great game.

It is not surprising that the game has 500000+ 5 star ratings on the market.

EveryMart for Kakao [Android app review]

App Name: EveryMart for Kakao

Developer: Appzil

Price: Free

Device used for review: HTC One (M8)

Review:

Do you love shopping and racing? Did you ever think about how cool it would be if you were able to merge these two hobbies into a mobile game? If you answered yes to any of these questions then EveryMart for Kakao is for you!

The graphics in EveryMart are very vivid and fun to experience. There are many eye popping visuals which help the game move forward in a positive way. I especially liked how it reminded me of the anime shows I’d watch as a kid. These kinds of visuals are good enough to be shown outside of just a mobile platform which is a good thing. There are colorful shots in just about every angle. I really enjoyed the graphics of the game. The sound was equally as good. There are deep sounds as you move along in the game and everything works in great sync.

The object of the game is to become the best racer in the market. As you race on, you’ll do best to avoid the boxes and other obstacles that can interfere with your chances of winning. You’ll need to focus and be quick as you are time limited unless you pass a check point in which your time will increase. There are also booster packs to assist you as you progress through the game. The controls are very simple and easy to pick so you should have no issues jumping right into the game play.

Overall I really enjoyed playing this unique and fun racing simulator. The shopping and market theme are refreshing and something worth playing for a long time. It’s a shame this game is not open for those in the U.S. (currently only available in Mexico and Brazil).

Pregnancy Week by Week [Android App Review]

App Name: Pregnancy week by week

Developer: Juan Beltran & Juan Hernan

Price: Free

Market: Google Play

Device used for Review: HTC One (M8)

Review:

There are few things more exciting than finding out that you are going to be a mom or dad. Pregnancy Week by Week helps the soon to be mothers and fathers learn more about their new bundle of joy.

This app is broken into 3 parts: Trimester 1, 2 and 3. As the app mentions it goes week by week from week 4 to week 42. The user is able to click on each week and once they do, they are greeted with some very helpful information about what’s going on during that particular week. This information ranges from reminding you to take folic acid during the pregnancy to explaining the dangers of smoking and drinking while pregnant.

I have a friend who is expecting and she was very happy when I introduced her to this app, she really liked how simple it was to use and how accurate the information given was. She is someone who does not have a constant internet connection and having this app with its data ready without internet was. It’s like having a mini pregnancy encyclopedia with you at all times.

The design of the app is split into the three trimesters which each display a calendar with a total of 42 weeks, the user then clicks on each week for information. Overall Pregnancy week by week is a simple yet resourceful  app which is sure to give you great information during all 42 weeks of pregnancy. I will likely use this app when it’s my turn to be a father again. The only thing better is seeing the doctor in person.

Momondo Cheap Flights, Hotels [Android App Review]

App name: Momondo Cheap Flights & Hotels

Developer: Momondo

Price: Free

Market : Google Play, iTunes

Device used for Review: HTC One (M8)

Review:

Momondo Cheap Flights & Hotels is an app belonging to a fairly new flights and hotel site. The site itself has gathered some good reviews from top tier locations such as CNN which stated “ Best New Airline Site”. In this review we will look at the features found inside the mobile app version of Momondo.

When I first opened the app I was greeted with a beautiful layout. I can say enough of how great the layout is. It reminds me of Miami’s art deco style which is a good thing. The visuals alone make this app a pleasure to use. The navigating is equally good and fast.

The meat and bones of the app is its ability to find flights and this app delivers with no issues. When you fire up the app you’ll notice it has automatically set to the nearest airport to you. Choosing a place to travel is a breeze I tried the apps functionality multiple times and did not have any issues at all.  The hotels portion is currently a work in progress and clicking on the hotels tab will give you a link to the Monmodo main site. I will consider updating this review once that functionality is added. A very nice feature within the app is the Friends Compass. Friends compass allows you to (using Facebook) estimate the cost of visiting your friends wherever they are. This is a very unique feature and adds a social aspect to the nicely built app.

Overall Momondo Cheap Flights & Hotels is a great app which does its job very well. I will be sure to use this app during my next vacation.

Hungry Bird [Android App Review]

App Name : Hungry Bird

Developer : Fox Studios

Device Used for Review: HTC One (M8)

Market: Google Play

Review:

Simple, fun and addictive. This is how I would describe Hungry Bird. In Hungry Bird you play a very hungry bird that has a massive craving for all kinds of fruits but a sour stomach for cactus. The sound is this game deep and adds to the depth of the game. It is great to hear the bird gobble up the fruits with a distinct bing sound and also when you eat those pesky cacti you’ll hear a springy sound. The music in the game is upbeat and will keep the game moving.

The game play is basic and easy to learn, yet is very fun. The game play consist of waiting for fruits to drop from the sky and tap on your bird at the correct moment for the bird to eat the fruit. You’ll have to be careful as the fruits fall fast and you can either miss them or eat a nasty cactus by mistake. If you are unlucky enough to eat a cactus, then your game will be over. The object of the game is to get the highest score possible. It’s a game with simple mechanic but it has a high fun factor and gives the player endless hours of entertainment. You really feel immerse in the game especially after you have racked up a high score.  During my testing it was nice to compare my scores with my friend and boast about how I was better than them.

Overall, Hungry Bird is a fun addicting game which is sure to give you hours and hours of fun.

A Neat Set of Tools from ZAUSAN [Combined app reviews]

Today’s app review is regarding a collection of tools, from Zausan. Each of the apps provides users with some neat tools to make social networking better.

App Names:
Z-Art: Paint with your fingers
Z-Sounds for chats
Image search for chats
Video search for chats

Developer: Zausan Innocacion Tecnologica

Price: Free

Device used for review: HTC One (M8)

Review:  Developer Zausan Innocacion Tecnologica has created 4 great tools to extend your social messaging experience. I will break this review into four different sections highlighting the features of each separate app.

Z-Art Paint with your fingers

This application is quite unique; imagine having a conversation with a friend about how you want the layout of your room. It would be nice if you’d be able to just draw and show them exactly what you want. Z-Art allows you to do just that and others creative things. Z-Art allows you to draw on a picture or add certain things to your drawing, there are over 400 included within the app. The app has various customization options such as color and thickness of drawing. I found this app to be quite useful and will continue to use it past my review. I especially liked that fact that I can add objects to a picture and also draw on them without issues.

Z- Sounds for chats

Z-Sounds for chats also allows you to customize your messaging experience, in this app you’ll be able to add sounds to messages you send. Like the previous app there are pre made sounds you can add as well as be able to add your own custom sounds like your voice. My favorite sound is the fart (don’t ask why).

Image search for chats

Image search for chats is an app that saves you a ton of time. Instead of having to go out and serach for a picture you’d like to add to your current messaging conversation. With this app you’re able to search in a fast and efficient way. Another unique feature is the ability to search for a picture via a desktop and have I work with several messaging apps.

Video search for chats

With Video search for chats you’ll be able to do the same as in Image search for chats except with videos; the menu is similar which a good thing is as the apps are very easy to use.

Overall I found these four apps to be very useful and can enhance your messaging experience. These apps are best used in a combo making them the ultimate messaging multimedia editor. I can easily recommend all four.

Sugar Crush HD – A Candy Saga [Android App Review]

App Name: Sugar Crush HD – A Candy Saga

Publisher: Tap Games

Price: Free

Market: Google Play

Device Used for Review: Google Nexus 5

Review:

When you think of a game like Sugar Rush the first thing you may thing I that it’s just another clone of a well known game. I’ll admit there are some obvious similarities but this is a whole different experience.  Sugar Rush is a fun and well themed three match game. The object of the game is pretty self explanatory, connect three of any same type of sweets and you’ll gain points as well as set up the next possible set of moves. It sounds easy but it can take a bit of thinking and it’s timed. Regardless of difficulty, this game is fun. The sounds of the game fit in very nicely with the vibrant and colorful theme.

I played the game for hours and eventually lost track of time. It can become very addicting and fast. There hours and hours of fun as there are over 216 levels separated by four episodes. If there is a particular level you just don’t want to do, you have the option to skip the level. I don’t recommend it as all the levels I played were entertaining but it’s nice to have the option.

As soon as I fired up the game I was greeted by a Google Play games (Google+) sign in screen, this was very convenient as it keeps your game scores and displays leader boards. If Play Games is not your thing it also features a sign in with Facebook button. This can also be very convenient. One of my favorite features of the game has to be its price, its free meaning all the levels are free.

Overall Sugar Rush is a sweet game (see what I did there?) I really enjoyed the addicting game play. The sounds of visuals of the game are very appealing and add to an already rich game play experience. Sugar Rush is a available to iOS devices as well as Android devices. This game is sure to give you a sweet tooth!

Some key features:

  • Available for iPad, iPhone and Android
  • 4 episodes & 216+ levels
  • Frequent updates
  • Realistic and fun sound effects
