Cross Side – Android App Review

App Name: Cross Side

DeveloperPixelh8

Cost: $2.35 USD

MarketPlayStore

Review:

Cross Side is a puzzle based game with SNES graphics. The music that is played throughout the game reminds me of the old Pokémon games on Game Boy. The objective of the game is to move your little telepathically linked robots into the springs at the end of the level. There is a counter on the top which dictates the minimum amounts of moves a player can make. Naturally you’ll do better the fewer moves you make. Cross Side features several different ways to help your robot friend make it to safety, including repositioning blocks or having one robot run into a wall to help match the others position. The levels are bright and colorful although I think the music could use some work

A strange accident has left two robots telepathically linked which often puts one or the other in danger. Your quest is to help them find their way back to where it all happened and hopefully set them both free.

Cross-Side is the second mind bending puzzle game set in the world of “OCARBOT”. Featuring 60 infuriating puzzles, you can save one LO-BOT but this time you have to save two. Featuring cameos by “DBOT” and “OCARBOT” as well as a host of achievements and silly costumes to unlock and wear Cross-Side will have you coming back again and again.  – Play Store Description.

At first, it was difficult for me to get into the game, but once you get into the core place it’s actually a really fun game the pushes your mind to think more. Cross Side is available for Android devices 2.1 and up for $2.35 USD.

Green Jelly From G5 Entertainment [Android Review]

App Name: Green Jelly

Cost: Free (In app purchase available)

Developer: G5 Entertainment

Market: Google Play

Device used: Google Nexus 7

Review:

Do you have a sweet tooth for physics? I don’t either, but Green Jelly may give you a change of heart. This puzzle adventure stars a little green jelly (looks a bit like Flubber) that develops a sudden craving for sweets and this action launches your adventure. The object of the game is to collect sweets within a level and then jump into gingerbread house to go to the next level.

The game play consists of sticking green jelly from red peg to red peg and launching him across the maps as he collects the candy. You can stick green jelly to more than one peg at a time and in certain instances but him loose to collect more candy. Although levels look similar for the most part, the developers did a great job of keeping the game new and different. Every level has a different path to victory, some levels even have moving obstacles to try and prevent you from attaining your tasty sweets.

Do you like candy? So does Green Jelly! Join this cute creature in a challenging adventure to curb his sweet tooth. Collecting candies is not as easy as you might think. Dangerous traps and tricky obstacles make it hairy yet entertaining. So proceed carefully and you’ll be rewarded with tasty treats and Green Jelly’s happy smile. With 60 amazing levels in three yummy locations, you’ll test your quick reactions and wits at every step. Incredible graphics and animation plus realistic physics action will only make you crave for more.-Play Store description.

Green Jelly is free on the play store but if players want all its tasty glory they should purchase the in game unlock for the full game. This would give you access to all the latest and greatest of green jelly’s adventures.

Whack Mania Free Review

App Name: Whack Mania Free

Cost: Free

DeveloperBRAVO Game Studios

Market: Google Play

Device used for review: Google Nexus 7

Review:

I remember the good old days when my parents would take me to the local arcade, I couldn’t wait to grab that mallet and let those moles have it. Whack Mania takes the whack-a-mole concept and mixes in a couple of twists and turns. The result is a very entertaining game with a little for players of all ages.

“The world is in danger. A horrible plague of moles has afflicted the land and only you can stop it. Moles and rabbits are destroying your crops, and if you’re not fast enough, you’ll lose your entire harvest to these nasty little critters!”- Play Store Description

When you start up the game players are placed into one of 14 mini planets (Similar to Super Mario Galaxy) where you you’ll whack your way to victory. Within these mini planets are various holes in the ground where those pesky moles will emerge from and give you your chance to attack. What I find the coolest is the fact that the moles pop up to the beat of the music, it adds to an overall satisfying gaming experience.

The game menus are  easy to use and are similar to a certain angry feathered animal game.   As you progress through the planets the number of moles to smash will increase and, you’ll find that you’ll need to swipe around the planet to insure you’ve gotten all the moles. Players can identify that a mole has emerged based on a “pop” sound. Players will also encounter white moles that if you whack you’ve earned yourself a fail on the level. If you don’t like moles there is also a mode in which you must prevent bunnies from eating all the carrots lying around. Once you’ve completed all 14 levels, you go premium and purchase the  full version for $.99(adds 20 levels and removes ads). If that is not enough to satisfy your mole frenzy then you can opt to play endless mode which is well endless.

Overall Whack Mania (Free) gives an old classic a breath of fresh air and makes for a very entertaining game. It’s available for Android phones (2.2 and up), Android tablets (3.0 and up) and iOS devices.
