If you have ever played the popular game Plague Inc, then you will be very familiar with today’s game review, X-CORE Galactic Plague. In Plague Inc. you job is to kill off mankind but introducing and changing various diseases or plagues  and have them cover the Earth, one country at a time. Well in X-CORE, it is an alien invasion that is introduced to destroy mankind.

There are two versions of the game, free and pro. I used the free version for this review. The game is currently out only for Android but an iOS version is in the works.

When you first start, you pick which alien race to use. There are 10 races:

  • Greys
  • Repriloids
  • Insectoids
  • Egyptian gods
  • Psychotrons
  • Biomorphes
  • Energy beings
  • Machines
  • Galaxy Council
  • USSR – United Space Socialistic Republics

You will need to unlock many of by winning the game under certain conditions.

After you  choose a race, you will choose which mods you want to employ. Most of these are purchased with gems that you can earn and/or purchase with IAPs. Finally you choose the difficulty setting and begin the invasion. I recommend you choose easy to get started. Finally, pick a county on the world map to begin your invasion. Again I would recommend a small third world country.

Once you have landed your race will slowly begin to infiltrate mankind. As time goes by you will earn upgrade points. You will need to use these upgrade points to improve 3 areas: dissemination, military, and adaptation. These areas will help your alien race spread faster and better.

X-CORE is a game for the long haul. It is a long game and one that requires some thought and strategy on how to invade. The game will continue to run when you are away but you really need to play often so you can use your upgrades wisely.

The game has quite a bit to it. Each race has specific characteristics that will influence how they invade. There are a variety of different mods you can employ such as +25% to military upgrades effect, +15% land transport speed, etc. These can have a significant impact for your alien race.

The overall graphics and game layout are well done. I found the game very easy to play, in the sense that I could follow my game progress and find what I needed in the game.  If you enjoy strategy games and games that are chuck full of game play, then you need to give X-CORE a try.

Curious to see how the game looks? Well, check out this gameplay video below. Unfortunately it is in Russian you but will get the idea. 🙂
