PerBlue and PlayMob partner to provide Thanksgiving meals through HELP USA

LONDON/MADISON, WIS. – November 13, 2012 – PerBlue and PlayMob partner during the holiday season for the second annual ‘Give Food to Give Thanks’ campaign benefiting HELP USA. Players of the popular massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) Parallel Kingdom can purchase the Thanksgiving Turkey Hat, an avatar enhancement, with Food, a purchasable and tradable in-game commodity. Each Hat purchased will result in a cash donation made to HELP USA, an organization dedicated to combating homelessness and hunger in the United States.

Last year, over 546 Parallel Kingdom players participated in the campaign and more than 700 meals were purchased through HELP USA. Players can choose from two donation packages. The Turkey Hat can be purchased for 800 Food and will provide a Thanksgiving meal to one homeless child. The Golden Turkey Hat can be purchased for 6,500 Food and will provide a Thanksgiving meal to an entire family in need. PerBlue continues to lead the way among game development companies in the virtual giving sector.

“We are delighted to be working with PerBlue to run the Thanksgiving campaign again. Last year it made a huge difference for homeless people in New York, who may not have enjoyed the festivities along with the rest of the US. The Parallel Kingdom players and PerBlue team are leading the way in gaming for good, and making an impact globally,” said Jude Ower, CEO and Founder of Playmob.

“We hope to match or even beat last year’s donations, while spreading some holiday cheer to those who need it most. Parallel Kingdom players have proven to be philanthropic and eager to make a difference,” said Justin Beck, CEO and Co-Founder of PerBlue.

The ‘Give Thanks’ campaign, powered by PlayMob’s platform, benefits HELP USA, a non-profit organization that provides housing and supportive services for the homeless and people in need across America. Since 2009, HELP USA has been breaking the cycle of dependency by addressing the underlying causes of homelessness with respect and dignity. Through the development of quality housing with on-site support services, HELP USA provides resources for its residents, encouraging independence and self-sufficiency. For more information about the campaign, visit the PerBlue website (www.perblue.com). Donations will be accepted until November 20th.
