Today I am covering another great board game that has entered the digital arena – Eight Minute Empire. This game launched on Kickstarter a while back and is now available for both Android and iOS devices.
If you have read any of the reviews of the board game, you will have heard that this game is more of a board domination type game vs an empire builder. The game is for 2-5 players what can be played locally or online. Your job is to have control of the majority of the board by the end of the game.
Overall the game play is fast and fun and definitely translates well in the mobile game arena.
To win you must have the most victory points at the end. You will earn victory points through map domination, but also in how many cities you have, how much goods and troops you own.
Each turn you can purchase various actions such as:
- build a city
- destroy troops
- recruit troops
- move troops
With these actions, you also collect goods. The more goods of each you have can give you bonuses.
The game comes with 2 free maps but you can purchase more separately or in a bundle.
Since this is billed as an “eight minute” empire building games, the rules are very straight forward and after a couple of minutes you will be well on your way playing.
I enjoy the game a lot and think it does super well on mobile. So if you are looking for a quick and easy to understand “empire” game, check out Eight Minute Empire.
