Sometimes the simplest games are the best. That is the case with today’s review of 4our Dots – Dots and Boxes from Yunasoft.
4our Dots is a great little game that you can pull out and play anytime. The object of the game is to have the most squares filled in with your color by the end of the game. This is a two player game. The game begins with a grid of dots on the screen. Players take turns to draw a line between two dots. When you draw a line and it completes a square, the game will put your color in that square and you get to draw another line.
This sounds easy and it is but you need to watch where you put your line so you do not make it easy for your opponent to complete a square. Sometimes you will not have a choice and make it easy for your opponent to win and vise versa. Most games will last only a couple of minutes so this is a great game you can whenever and wherever.
When you first start the game, there is a quick tutorial to show you the basics. This is a free game, with a small banner on the bottom of the screen; it is not too bad. The game comes with some nice options:
- Difficulty settings – easy, medium, hard
- Grid size- 3×3, 4×4, 5×5
- Play against AI
- Play against friends (via Game Center) or a random person
As you play and win, you will earn coins. These coins can be turned in the shop to unlock different emblems. You can also purchase coins via IAPs and remove ads for $0.99 too. The different emblems give you different abilities such as increase you time (per move).
4our Dots – Dots and Boxes is a nicely designed and fun little game. The developer did a good job adding a number of different options to the game to vary game play and make it one that you will probably not get bored with quickly. I enjoy puzzle games and games that do not take hours to complete, so 4our Dots is pefect. As I started off with, the simpliest games can sometimes be the best. No problem recommending 4our Dots!
