Are you a selfie lover? If you are then, you need to check out Selfie X, a new social network for selfie lovers.
Selfie X from Triankle Inc. is available on both Android and iOS platforms. I tested the iOS version for this review. After downloading the app, you will need to sign into the system. You can do this via Facebook or an email address. After logging in, you will setup your profile. This is important because this is how folks will find you and see what you are about. Within your profile, you can see who is following you, who you are following and get some quick stats. Once this is done, then it is time to take some selfies.
The app is built around taking and sharing selfies, so if you do not want to do that, then this is not your app. 🙂
The Home section of the app shows you a brief listing of
- Following selfies
- Selfies near you
- Popular selfies
- Famous selfies
- New selfies
Within any of these areas, you can easily browse for selfies. When you open one up, you can see how long ago it was posted and where they are from. You can also like, chat, and request a swap from that person. In addition to finding folks here to swap with you can connect/invite friends from a number of other social networks.
In addition to the Home Section, there is Selfie Swap with Friends, Camera and Selfie chat (where you can IM your friends) sections. The app provides a nicely organized and easy to use interface so should be up and running very quickly. For those concerned with privacy, the app allows you to block users. There is not a lot of personal information in your profile and you only need to fill out what you want.
The concept behind this app is pretty neat-a community of selfie lovers. I am not a big selfie person but I know a few who are that would appreciate this app. This app is for those who want to connect with others around the world to chat, share photos, and friendship. The reviews for this app on the market so far are pretty positive so folks are enjoying Selfie X. Now as a parent I would caution my kids on the use of app and sharing of information but overall I think it could be a lot of fun. Say cheese!
