Sit down and deal those cards! As a kid, we did not have tablets or video games so what we did was play a lot of card games. One of them was Gin Rummy. Because of this, I enjoy playing card games on my iPad or Android phone. Today I am looking at Best Gin Rummy from Kuralsoft.
If you are not familiar with the game Gin Rummy, I recommend you head over to this wiki page to get more information. For this review, I am going to assume you understand the game. Overall it is not that hard to play. You essentially need to create melds (such as 3 of a kind or a run of the cards in the same suit) and having no deadwood (the cards that do not fit into your melds).
Best Gin Rummy is a very good game that you can play on both the iPad and iPhone. It is a solid build and comes a lot of good options.
Under the game settings you can:
- Set the game difficulty
- Set the game speed
- Turn on/off sound
- Turn on/off animations
The game does connect to the game center and will keep track of your game statistics. You can get some basic information about Gin Rummy from the FAQ section of the app.
Once you get things setup the way you want, it is time to play. The layout of the game is nicely done. The cards are easy to read and app automatically sets up your melds in your hand, so can figure out what is going on and what you need to do quickly. The game is just a joy to play and you can pick it up anytime, so the app saves your game progress. I forgot to mention but the app keeps score for you too. This is finally one of my favorite reasons for playing cards on my iPad .
This is a single player game but the app developer does hold a monthly contest. You can find more information about it from the Contest section of the app. This is definitely a nice touch and a neat way to keep folks playing the game. Right now I will need some more practice to get into the leader board!
If you card games, then Best Gin Rummy needs to be in your collection. It is well designed, plays great, and is free!
