As we near Christmas 2014, it is time to start looking at some kids apps. Today Boto the Pink Dolphin 2 is the review. This is a cute kids game that you youngsters should enjoy. The graphics and music are friendly and inviting.

The app is setup into six sections and each section has four areas. As you complete an area and earn stars, your child will unlock the next area. An important note is that you need to do all areas and sections in order.

The game does not much of a setup or instructions. At the beginning of each level, the game will tell your child what to do. There is also a small parents guide and a brief review of what needs to be done in that section. Younger children might need some guidance to begin a game but should be able to finish on their own. As you progress in the different levels, the difficulty increases somewhat.

The different section cover:

  • Recognize: outlines and silhouettes
  • Puzzle: put the pieces of the broken castle gate back together
  • Intuition: comparison/understanding of shapes
  • Attention & Agility: cross the lava cliff with various figures as fast as possible
  • Logical Thinking: battle of rock-paper-scissors
  • Creative Drawing

Each section “tests” your child in a different area. Overall this is a nicely done game but is quite short. The game could definitely could use more content. It would also be nice to skip around to the different sections. So if you have a youngster this holiday season, Boto the Pink Dolphin 2 might be an option for your iPad.
