There are lots of launchers for Android and I have tried quite a few. Some I have  used more than others but to date, I have not found one that I really love. Today I  am trying Solo Launcher from Now do I have a set of criteria I would want in a launcher? Not really but what I would like to see is a way to easily access the apps I want and has a somewhat minimalist fee and layout. Free would be good too. 🙂 Solo Launcher has most of the features you find in any of the popular launchers currently out. The launcher has its own store, themes, and widgets you can use. One thing I liked about Solo Launcher was that after downloading it and setting it as the default, it was good to go. I really did not have to do a lot of customization to be up and running. Some launchers I have used, it took some time to get it in a place…

What are some of features of Solo Launcher:

  • Gestures – you can use 9 different ones and even customize a few to do what you want
  • Themes – the default theme is very nice but you can easily browse and download numerous free ones (Note: I was not able to download). You can also use Go, ADW, NOVA, and Apex themes.
  • Fonts – you can download different fonts to use.
  • Widgets – has some neat widgets, such as the weather widget and Solo Torch
  • Store – the items listed here are linked to the Google Play store
  • Settings – the launcher settings area is nicely organized and put together.

For those that want to simply install and go with it, Solo Launcher does the job.  Now for those that want to wade into the nitty gritty details, Solo Launcher lets  you do that also. You can backup and restore your settings, which might prove  helpful.

You can customize the home screen, dock, folders, app drawer, appearance, and gestures. Lets look at the dock settings. You can turn it on/off, set the icons, their sizes, labels, show dividers, scrolling…you can make it the way you want.

Overall Solo Launcher is a solid launcher for Android phones. It does the job nicely, provides plenty of customization, and is not covered in ads. Did I say it is free? I did not notice any significant changes in my battery life too. If you are looking for a launcher, I would give Solo Launcher a shot.

Launchers are a personal choice, you need to find one that fits you and provides the tools you want.
