If you’ve ever wanted to be a hunter but have don’t want to deal with actually killing animals then Deer Hunter 2014 is the game for you. While navigating through the easy to navigate game menus, something first that caught my attention was the fact that this game supports Google+ cloud save. This is an amazing feature that should be on more games out there, it basically lets you start the game on one Android device and finish it on another. Once you get the game started you’ll be impressed with the graphics. The level of detail in the lush forest environments is unprecedented. An example is a part in which your out hunting some ducks but as you navigate through the forest you’ll notice fish jumping in the water and see the sun blazing; it almost makes you feel like you are really there. Adding to this is the unique sound quality of the game; there are multiple life-like sounds of dears and other wild animals.

As expected the game play is on the rails and is a basic point and shoot style game. There are some added features which add to both strategy and replay value. While hunting ducks you can take a zip of a sport drink and time will slow down to give you a clear shot. When you take the right shot, the game will give you a Matrix style slow down which follows the bullet up until the point of impact on the wild animal. The game even tells you what body part you’ve hit. If hunting is your thing then, you’ll enjoy the variety of animals you can take down among these are dears, ducks and wolverines.

The game has some good variety as there are not one but three different areas in which you can live out your hunting dreams. The hunting missions which range from killing one to multiple critters for cash are played out in three maps which are Pacific Northwest, North Africa and British Columbia. All the maps have there until scenery and feel. You have the option to carry a primary and secondary weapon, and these include Shotguns, rifles, assault rifles and pistols.

The weapons are displayed in a 3d style and have different benefits and weaknesses such as stability and zoom. There are options to get mPoints which allow you to get real life prizes such as gift cards. Some of the things I don’t like are the fact that the game gets notifications pushed to the phone by default. This can be changed I just don’t like that it displays by default.

Overall, Deer Hunter 2014 is a fun game with hours of game play. If hunting is your thing, you’ll enjoy the life like experiences you can get from this game, although the game probably won’t make you a better real life hunter. Deer hunter 2014 is available for Android and iOS devices.
