A while back I did some reviews on apps for the iPad which can aid you in taking notes, etc. Well today I am taking a look at PhatPad. Overall this is a nice app and very well supported. Below you will find a video overview and you can download a pdf on the app here.
PhatPad has a multilingual handwriting recognition engine. When you first start it, the app will ask for your language. It will also ask you to set up a custom dictionary if you like. The app also has a nice tutorial to guide you through your first steps in the app. I found this app very easy to use right off the bat and has a large selection of options you can control.
With most handwriting apps you can change pen color and thickness but that is just the beginning. You can turn on/off the palm rest, interactive stylus, and erase gestures. The app has the option of allowing you to share the documents you create with others, backup to Evernote and Google Documents, save as a pdf, post on Facebook, email or tweet the document.
In addition to handwritten notes, you can insert text (via typing), insert photos, record notes (within the app itself) and even insert shapes. The app has a presentation mode which is nice for any presentation to a group.
I really appeciated the options that had for deleting material on a page. You can use the eraser or the section tool to delete any or all of your notes.
If you are looking into purchasing a note taking app and looking for an easy to use and fully functional app, then PhatPad should be on your list.
