This game from Shenandoah Studio is based on that historic battle.  In the game you can choose to play either the Allies or the Axis powers. The game comes with a number of battles you can re-enact, so you can see how things might have gone if you were in command. You do not need to know anything about the Battle of the Bulge to play. The developers though have put in the game a huge amount of historical data and information so you can easily about this battle while you play.

The game focuses on strategy not graphic violence. From the screen shots, you see that you are commanding your units from a birds eye view. You are dealing with troop movement, placement , and engagements. Terrain has a big impact, so you need to take that into account also. You have a mission to accomplish and in a certain amount of time. Each turn can represent a few minutes or a few hours.

The game comes with a great tutorial that will help you learn the game. There is also an extensive help section you can refer to as needed. You can play against the AI or another human (face to face, or online).

Shenandoah Studio have recently come out with a free, lite version of the game so you can try it before you buy. The full game comes with five scenarios and you can purchase another one via an in-game purchase. You may also purchase two different personalities: Von Manteuffel and Bradley in game.

This game is a bit more expensive but is well worth it. Shenandoah Studio has put a lot of time and energy into the details of this game and it shows. Battle of the Bulge is a game for history bluffs and turn based strategy gamers. With a free version now out, there i is no reason not to give it a try.

El Alamein, covering the decisive battle in North Africa, during World War II is in development for release later this year.
