Review:

Many say that news print is either dead or dying due to this electronic age. Overall I would tend to agree with that statement. Yes I still read a physical newspaper at times but most of my news comes online. Do you still read a newspaper? If you do, then PressReader is for you. PressReader gives you access to over 2,300 newspapers from 96 countries in 54 languages.  Now you do get a limited 24 hour free trial and then there is a monthly subscription fee of $30/mo.

Some of the features of PressReader are:

• Flipping pages like they’re reading real publications
• Setting up automated subscriptions to their favorite titles
• Sorting publications by country, language, favorites or recently ordered
• Panning and zooming articles and photos and view in stunning clarity
• Listening to publications using on-demand audio
• Sharing articles by email, Twitter and Facebook

After trying PressReader, I must say it did the job well. After logging in, I was able to quickly access the Washington Post and check out the sports section. The pinch to zoom worked well and the pan/zoom also worked as advertised. I found it easy to read, find, and access the pages and sections I wanted.

I tried this on the small screen but I would assume on a tablet this would look good. You can see it on the video below. Last year we highlighted PressReader in one of our app summaries, so you can see some other reviews of PressReader through that post.

Again this is a nice app to read newspapers with, the only drawback for me is the price. Yes you get access to tons of content but I know I would be only reading a few different periodicals.  Not sure if the developer ever thought of a small price point for limited content that one could choose. That would be a neat option.
